Radio City Memorial Broadcast by Radio Kaleidoscope – 1968 (Evening Echo News Paper)
The Radio City memorial broadcasts in 1968 were also a test of Radio kaleidoscopes ability to operate and synchronise multiple transmission sites, each site was synchronised to the GPO Talking clock (TIM). At exactly the 2hr point, Booker T and the MG’s “Time is Tight” was played on-air and the lead transmitter turned OFF halfway through the sound track, the next appointed site would then commence transmissions starting with the last half of the “Time is Tight” sound track. The total broadcast time for this particular days event was actually 10hrs.
