Roger had been supplying us with parts from his ex military surplus stocks. In 1970 Roger began a new business from his home in Hockley selling mail-order components. He told J.O. that he needed to make some space for the business to expand and wanted to get rid of a large C- 43 set shortwave transmitter. J.O. eagerly snapped up Roger's kind offer, and once again Chris McCarthy used his white SWB Land Rover to transport the C-43 set home, stopping at Buster's house in Avondale Road Benfleet for a photo shoot on the way.

Roger went on to develop his mail order business, which,in 1972, became known as Maplin Electronics.
